Personal Feedback Session

On Friday I had my one to one feedback session with Jason. As with all my feedback sessions, I found it very useful, especially as I knew I had to narrow my original idea down or revise the whole thing.

Having heard Jason's comments I'm now on track with where I want my series to go. He recommended a few other photographers to check out, the kind who have taken something what has been documented a million times before, and made it there own, one of them being Bruce Gilden, famous for his on going projects Facing New York and A Beautiful Catastrophe...

Gilden is pretty brash in the way he shoots these images, up-close, fearless and somewhat rude in some peoples view. This approach is definitely not something I could take up as I'm quite shy when it comes to using the public as my subjects. In his images, he captures the noisiness, the busyness, the rush of New York. To me though, I feel the Northern Quarter is the total opposite of that, it's a laid back, chilled out kind of place, yeah it has it's bars and clubs but it's always been an arty, chilled type of area.
One idea we discussed was documenting the calmness of such a busy city. Quite how though, I'm not so sure.

*Think outside the box* < This is something I try to tell myself in my work quite a lot of the time, I just need to get creative in my head and making sure I'm happy with my work and my work rate.

The idea what set my mind racing most is documenting the area over a 24 hour period. I've not stopped thinking this idea over since the session and I think it's most likely to be the idea I run with.
To do 24 consecutive hours would be quite a haul so I think it'll have to be over a 3-4 day period, I'm just going to need to find someone who's willing to spend 8 or so hours overnight trawling the streets with me?! Best get the warm clothes and my flask out!!
In the mean time, I just need to find a suitable magazine who would actually commission my series in the real world.

Anyway, I think that's enough of a ramble for one night so until next, Ciao!
